What do you think of when you think of the Netherlands? Mills, dykes, bicycles, cheese, clogs, wind and water are probably terms that come to mind.
Through this outing, your class will learn all about why these icons are or have been so important to our beloved country.
For example, do you know why two names are used interchangeably for Holland/Holland? Or can you explain why the abundance of water in and around our country is both a curse and a blessing for our Holland?

During the tour, brains need to be used. Not only to pay attention to the road, but also to complete the tasks!
So both physically and mentally a fun challenge!
12:30 Make a stop at cheese farm the Jacobs Hoeve in Katwoude, there will be time for lunch here* (note - not included)
13:00 After lunch, the real cheese lords and ladies will tell all about the cheese-making process, from cow to cheese.
Doors will also be opened to the cow barn where you can watch the cows being milked. AND you can cuddle with the calves!
14:00 You get back on your bike to go back to Volendam

Volendam
Holland's most famous fishing village; highly recommended for anyone wanting to discover authentic Holland.
Volendam street known for its fishing, costumes, eels and typical eel sound music. A historic place that invites for a walk along the 'famous' Dike accompanied by a real storyteller.
Scavenger hunt
You will discover Waterland by bike with a scavenger hunt through this beautiful part of the Netherlands.
The tour takes you past fun interesting places. While cycling, the brain has to be used. Not only to pay attention to the road but also to complete tasks, so it's brain gymnastics at its best!
During the scavenger hunt, you will make Multiple choice questions about the location you are currently in and will have to complete playful & creative photo assignments
In all tasks, you can earn points. The one with the most points wins!
Have fun scouring the beautiful countryside and interesting spots.
Jacobs Farm
You will find this atmospheric farmhouse in Katwoude on the IJsselmeerdijk between Monnickendam and Volendam.
A rural setting with farms, typical of the North Holland polder, the breeding ground of the famous Dutch cheeses.
Upon arrival, staff members in original costume will show you how cheese is made. On site, you can also take a look, through a self-guided tour, at the organic farm's new potting shed.
Very fun and educational for young and old.
